The American dog tick is the primary vector for several diseases

In our continuing series from the Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC), parasitologist Michael Dryden, DVM, PhD, describes Dermacentor variabilis, the American Dog Tick, and why you should be concerned, no matter where in North America you live. This tick may have “dog” in its name, but that doesn’t matter much when it’s looking for a blood meal.
